A 17- year-old boy driving a moped was killed after being hit by a dump truck in Dedham, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, authorities said. According to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office, the crash took place on Washington Street, near the border of Boston’s West Roxbury neighborhood. The passenger on the moped was also injured in the accident. Eyewitnesses told the press they couldn’t understand how the crash occurred as the street was deserted and the dump truck driver couldn’t have missed the teenagers on the moped.

Most motorists are aware of their rights after a car crash, but what about pedestrians? Many would say that a pedestrian injured or killed in a crash automatically qualifies for damages, but that is not so. Such claims follow the same rules as those stemming from a crash between two cars. The victim or their family must prove that the driver was negligent if they want to get damages.
